Issue description
When you place a saved view onto a layout, the placed drawing shows all lines, fills and elements in black and white, while the corresponding view in the View Map displays them in color. Only the placed drawing on the layout is affected, other 2D elements drawn directly on the layout use color pens.
Solution
This behavior is caused by the color presentation of the placed drawing, controlled in the Drawing Settings on the layout. By default, drawings use the pen set of their source view, but these settings can be overridden per drawing, including forcing Black and White display.
To restore color, you must change the drawing’s Colors option from Black and White back to Defined by Pen Set or Grayscale in the Drawing Size and Appearance panel of Drawing Settings.
Check and adjust the drawing color setting on the layout
Select the drawing on the layout.
Open the Drawing Settings dialog in one of these ways. Right‑click the selected drawing and choose Drawing Settings…
In the Drawing Settings dialog, switch to the Drawing Size and Appearance panel, where width, height, magnification, scale, pen set and color options are shown.
Check the Pen Set field and confirm it is set to By View so the drawing uses the same pen set as its source view from the View Map. If needed, you can choose a different project pen set from the list to match your documentation standard.
In the same panel, locate the Colors… option for the drawing. Change it from Black and White to Defined by Pen Set to display the original pen colors defined by the chosen pen set.
Optionally enable Transparent Background if you want the drawing background to remain transparent over the master layout graphics.
Click OK to close Drawing Settings and update the selected drawing; its content should now match the colored appearance of the source view in the View Map.
