Description
You need a materials list that shows each building material inside a wall composite rather than the wall as a single item. A schedule of construction elements lists only the composite name and overall wall quantities, so the individual core and finish layers do not appear as separate rows.
Solution
A schedule of construction elements always lists whole elements, so a wall built from a composite is treated as one item. Use a schedule of Components instead to break the composite down into its building materials. This schedule type lists each layer of a composite or profile element separately. See Component Data in the help documentation for the full list of properties you can display.
-
Open Scheme Settings. Do one of the following:
- Right-click any schedule in the Navigator and choose Scheme Settings.
- Select any schedule in the Navigator then click Settings at the bottom of the palette.
- Go to Document > Schedules and Lists > Schedules > Scheme Settings.
- Click New to start a new schedule scheme.
-
Choose Components as the scheme type and enter a Name, for example Wall Composite Materials.
- In the Criteria panel click Add Criteria then select Element Type. Set the value to Wall so only wall components appear in the schedule.
-
Click Add Fields to choose the data you need. Add the following fields:
- Building Material
- Component Type
- Component Thickness
- Component Volume (Net) or Projected Component Area (Net)
- Check Keep Components Together if you want the skins of each wall grouped in the same build order used in Composite Settings. See Add Fields for details on this option.
- Click OK to generate the schedule.
