Issue description
You have area text displayed on your fills but the units are incorrect. The area measurements appear in different units than what you need for your project such as displaying in square meter instead of square millimeter.
Solution
Area measurement units for fills are controlled by the Dimensions preferences in your project settings. This is the same setting that controls area calculations for zone stamps and other dimensional elements.
Access the Dimensions preferences:
- Go to Options > Project Preferences > Dimensions
- Alternatively you can click the Dimensions icon in the Quick Options bar
- In the Dimensions dialog box click on the Area Calculations icon
- This is one of the 8 dimension type icons on the right side of the dialog box
- In the Unit dropdown select your preferred area measurement unit
- Options include square meters, square feet, square millimeters, etc.
- Options include square meters, square feet, square millimeters, etc.
- If you have modified the settings the Dimensions settings name will change to Custom.
- Click Store As to save your customized dimension standard with a specific name
- This makes the setting available for future use in your project.
- Click OK to apply the changes
Keep in mind:
- These dimension preferences affect all area text displayed in your project including fill text, zone stamps and other dimensional elements
- The measurement unit and accuracy of fill area values are specifically defined in this Dimensions preferences location
- Changes will apply to all existing fills with area text as well as new ones you create
The area text settings work independently from the fill's appearance settings but are controlled globally through the project's dimension preferences ensuring consistency across all area calculations in your project.
