Issue Description
If I have an existing project with a well-structured Layout Book, including folders and master layouts, is there a way to transfer it to a new project without manually recreating everything?
Solution
A consistent layout structure is essential for maintaining organization and efficiency across multiple projects. Archicad allows the transfer of an entire Layout Book—including layouts, folder structures, and master layouts—from one file to another. This ensures continuity and reduces set-up time.
Follow these steps to import the Layout Book into a new file:
-
Prepare the New File:
- Open the new project file.
- Delete all existing layouts and master layouts.
(Note: Archicad requires at least one layout and one master layout to remain, so leave one temporarily.)
-
Merge Layouts from the Existing File:
-
Go to File > Interoperability > Merge… > Merge from File…
- Select the project file containing the layouts you want to transfer.
- Click Open.
-
Go to File > Interoperability > Merge… > Merge from File…
-
Import the Layout Book:
- In the Merge dialog box, select Layout Book (All Layouts, Master Layouts, Drawings).
-
Click Merge.
Once merged, the layouts and their original organization will be available in the new project. This method ensures that the formatting, folder structure, and linked drawings remain intact, minimizing the need for manual adjustments.
