Issue Description
I have several details already finished but they belong to another project. Is there away to use these in other projects.
Solution
Archicad’s Browse Project feature is specifically designed for referencing and working with views and layouts from another project, not for transferring elements into the host project. Here's a more detailed explanation of how to use the Browse Project command effectively:
What is the Browse Project Command?
The Browse Project command allows you to:
- Access the View Map and Layout Book of another Archicad project.
- Place views from the external project onto layouts in your current (host) project.
- Drag-and-drop entire layouts from the external project into the host project.
However, this does not bring model elements or attributes into the host project.
How to Use the Browse Project Command
1. Activate the Command:
- Go to project chooser>Browse Project
2. Select a Project to Browse:
- In the file selection dialog, locate the project file (.pln, .pla, etc.) you want to browse and open it in the browser.
3. Access the View Map or Layout Book:
- A dialog appears showing the View Map and Layout Book of the external project.
4. Place Views or Layouts in the Host Project:
- To place a view: Drag a view from the external project into a layout in your host project.
- To import a layout: Drag-and-drop a layout from the external project’s Layout Book into the Layout Book of the host project.
5. Adjust Imported Content:
- Imported views and layouts maintain their settings (e.g., layer combinations, graphic overrides). You may need to adjust attributes in the host project for consistency.
6. Limitations of Browse Project
- No Model Elements: You cannot transfer walls, slabs, or other model elements directly into the host project.
- Attribute Conflicts: If the external project uses attributes (e.g., layers or materials) that don’t exist in the host project, they may appear as missing or require manual adjustment.
6. When to Use Browse Project
- Reusing layout designs or view configurations from another project.
- Consolidating multiple project layouts into a single file.
- Placing views from a referenced project into a layout in the current project.
Note: This function is not available in Archicad SOLO.
