Issue description
You want to reset the display order because elements are appearing on top of each other incorrectly, and manual adjustments are not resolving the issue. This article explains how the display order system works in Archicad and how to restore the default hierarchy.
Solution
In Archicad, the display order (or stacking order) of elements is determined by element classes, which establish a default visual hierarchy. Here’s how you can reset and manage the display order to resolve overlapping issues:
-
Go to Edit > Display Order > Reset to Default Order.
This will return elements to their original class-based order:
- Annotation (Text, Labels, all Dimension types, Zone Stamps)
- 2D artwork (Lines, Circles, Splines, Hotspots)
- Library Parts (Objects, Lamps, Stairs)
- 3D Structures (Walls, Beams, Slabs, Doors, Windows, Columns, Roofs, Meshes)
- 2D Fills
- Zones
- Figures
Regardless of the order in which these elements are placed, items from a higher class (like Annotations) will appear in the foreground relative to items from lower classes (like Zones or Figures).
Tip: for managing display order, refer to this comprehensive guide: Display Order.
