Issue Description
In a complex residential project, several updates have been made to the floor plan, such as relocating windows or adjusting door placements. It’s crucial that these changes are accurately reflected in the elevation drawings for further detailing. However, constantly switching between the Floor Plan and Elevation views can be time-consuming and disrupt the workflow. How can these changes be instantly visible in the Elevation Drawings without repeatedly switching between views?
Solution
You can maximize the use of Trace and Reference in Archicad to show changes in plans to Elevation drawings. This is similar to having Multi-window drawings, but instead with the use of Trace and Reference. To do this:
1: In Floor Plan View, right-click the corresponding Elevation Drawing in the View Map, and select “Show as Trace Reference.”
2: Keep the Trace and Reference window open for easier access by navigating to Window > Palettes > Trace & Reference.
3: The Trace and Reference Palette allows for moving, rotating, or modifying the Trace Reference as needed. Additionally, the trace can be displayed in its original color for better clarity.
Tip: When an element is modified, such as moving a window, zooming in or out in the Floor Plan view will immediately reflect the changes in the Trace and Reference window without the need to switch views.
By utilizing the Trace and Reference feature, the workflow becomes more efficient, ensuring that changes made in one view are consistently updated in another.
