Description
Imagine you've created a plan with various window types, such as sliding, top-hung, and fixed windows. Now, the design requires you to standardize all the windows to be of the fixed type, but without altering their sizes or Element IDs. When attempting to use the Pick-Up Parameters and Inject Parameters tools, you notice that the size of the receiving window changes to match the original. Is there a way to transfer properties between windows without impacting the size and Element ID?
Solution
It is possible to transfer specific parameters between elements without affecting their size or Element ID by fine-tuning which parameters are transferred. Here's how you can do it:
- Adjust the Element Transfer Settings:
- Navigate to the Element Transfer Settings (Edit > Element Settings > Element Transfer Settings)
- Create a new transfer set by clicking New Transfer Set.
- In the transfer set options, locate the Windows tab.
- Uncheck the boxes for ID, Sill/Header/Anchor Height, and Size. This ensures these parameters won't be transferred, preserving the receiving window's size and ID.
- Pick Up Parameters from the Source Window:
- Use the Pick Up Parameters tool, Options+C for macOS; Alt+C for Windows OS to capture the settings from the source window.
- Use the Pick Up Parameters tool, Options+C for macOS; Alt+C for Windows OS to capture the settings from the source window.
- Inject Parameters into the Target Window:
- Select the Inject Parameters tool, Command+Options+C for macOS; Ctrl+Alt+C for Windows OS.
- A small pop-up window titled Transfer All Settings will appear. Click on it to reveal available transfer sets.
- Change the selection to the newly created transfer set to ensure only the desired parameters are transferred.
- Proceed with injecting the parameters into the target window.
TIP: After changing the Element Transfer Set, it becomes your default for future transfers. Always double-check your transfer set before using the Pick Up and Inject Parameters tools to ensure you're using the correct set for the task at hand.
