Issue Description
You would like to use the Fade distant elements function in an interior elevation in Archicad. Unfortunately, this feature is not available for Interior Elevations, only for Sections and Elevations.
Solution
To achieve a similar effect, in which you have a different appearance for the background and front of your interior elevation follow this workflow (you will find a detailed step-by-step below):
1. Create a View of the Front Elements.
Set up an Interior Elevation viewpoint with zero depth to capture only the front elements., and save a View of this for later use.
2. Create a duplicate View of the Background Elements.
Set up a second Interior Elevation Viewpoint that includes the background elements. Apply a different Graphic override or Model Appearance settings o this view to display the elements in the desired pen color and fills.
3. Combine the Views on a Layout.
Use the Saved views to create a composite image by placing them as Drawings on a Layout. These will visually represent the contrast you would achieve with Fade Distant elements.
Here is a detailed breakdown of the steps above:
1. Setting Up the Front Elements View.
- Open the Interior Elevation Settings of the Viewpoint you would like to use.
Under General > Horizontal Range, select Limited. Click OK - Change the Range of your Interior Elevation Marker to to ensure only the front elements are visible.
- Save this View by going to View > Save Current View.
2. Setting Up the Background View.
- 1. Make a duplicate of the Interior Elevation by copying and pasting its Marker.
- 2. Rename your duplicate to identify it in the project map.
3. Adjust the Horizontal range to include the background elements or set the Horizontal Range to Infinite. - 4. Save the view by going to View > Save Current View.
5. Apply graphic overrides (Document > Graphic Overrides > Graphic Override Combinations) to the View or change the Model Appearance in its Interior Elevation Settings.
3. Combining the Views.
- 1. Open or create a Layout.
2. Insert the saved Views using the Drawing tool.
3. Place them on the correct position.
TIPS:
- Before placing the views on the Layout go to the Drawing Tool settings > Frame > Fit Frame to Drawing. This will ensure both views are placed exactly on top of each other. Afterwards, you can then select them together and drag them across your Layout.
