Issue description
When selecting an imported image directly in Archicad, the pet palette does not offer a crop option. Clicking on the frame of an imported image only gives pet palette options of move, rotate, mirror, and multiply, rather than the option to crop the image content.
Solution
You can crop an image in Archicad by using the Drawing tool to import images instead of the Figure tool. This method allows you to crop the picture by manipulating the Drawing Frame.
Using Drawing Tool to Import and Crop Images
- Select File > External Content > Place External Drawing from the menu bar.
- Browse and select the image file you want to import (supported formats include PDF, JPG, PNG, and other image formats).
- Click Open and place the drawing in your Archicad workspace
- Select any edge of the drawing's Frame by clicking on it.
- Use the pet palette editing commands to modify the Frame size and shape.
- The Manually resized frame button will be automatically activated in the Drawing Settings or Info Box.
- Ensure the Crop Drawing to Frame option is checked (this is enabled by default).
- Resize the Frame to show only the portion of the image you want to keep.
- The Drawing Frame of a cropped Drawing will be shown with a dotted line, indicating it has been cropped.
Cropped content can be restored at any time, as long as the source image remains available. Cropping Drawing content reduces file size and can speed up Drawing updates by eliminating the need to process hidden portions of images.
