Issue Description
Does Archicad automatically provide a recovery file when the program is restarted after a crash? Is there any way for me to recover my file?
Solution
Follow these steps to try to recover your project:
Open the Autosave folder
- Windows: Go to C:/Users/<User Name>/GRAPHISOFT > AutoSave-XX
- macOS: Use Finder > (top) Go > hold down the Alt or Option key > Library > Application Support > GRAPHISOFT > AutoSave-XX
Note: In rare cases, the above path may differ from the standard. Check the path in Archicad: Options > Work Environment > Data Safety and Integrity.
Locate the Appropriate Autosave File:
-
Find the AutoSave folder corresponding to the date and approximate time of the crash.
Locate the backup file as follows: Autosave-XX > @ODB_Database_XX > database.fdb - Copy the .fdb file and paste it locally, for example, onto your desktop.
- Change the file extension of the copied file from .fdb to .pln.
- Start Archicad and open the renamed file with the Open and Repair option.
Note: In rare cases, no recovery file is saved, or the recovery file does not contain all unsaved changes. In such cases, recovery using the database.fdb file is not possible.
Check the Backup Project File:
- If recovery is impossible, open the backup file (.bpn) stored by Archicad in the same location as your .pln file.
- Open and save it as a solo project (.pln).
