Issue description
In Archicad, you might see the message "Errors occurred during the last operation" when opening or switching to a 3D view. Although this can seem concerning, it’s often harmless and usually doesn’t affect the project’s overall performance. This article provides a detailed guide on how to effectively identify the problematic element within your project and subsequently remove it.
Solution
This message typically means that some objects or elements in the project have invalid parameters, like degenerated polygons, invalid values (such as zero or negative numbers), or issues related to Solid Element Operations.
Please follow the steps outlined below to identify the problematic element and locate it within your project.
- Adjust model rebuild options
- Go to Options > Work Environment > Model Rebuild Options…
- Tick Write Report and move the slider to Full Report
- Untick Interrupt with Error Messages
→ This will ensure that detailed error reports are generated without workflow disruptions. For reference, see the Image below.
- Locate the problematic element
- Review the generated report. Errors often appear as, for example: “Polygon is degenerated. (S01)” where S01 is the element ID.
- Save a test copy of your project.
Use Find & Select to locate all instances with the element ID from the report. Go to Edit > Find & Select. Click 'Add...' to choose a new criteria and select 'Element ID'.
- If necessary, assign unique element IDs via Document > Listing Extras > Element ID Manager... to isolate specific problem elements.
Delete unwanted or degenerated elements, such as null-height walls, degenerated slabs, or leftover geometry from Solid Element Operations.
- Check for library conflicts
- Duplicate or custom library parts may trigger errors in a project.
- Save a copy of your project and inspect both Linked and Embedded Libraries for custom *.GSM elements (especially windows/casements).
