Issue Description
When you use the Explode into Current View command on an imported PDF, no 2D lines or fills are created. The original PDF remains as a single object or disappears without generating editable geometry. You observe that the content cannot be selected or modified as individual drawing primitives.
Solution
This limitation exists because the imported PDF contains pixel graphics instead of vector data. Archicad can only explode vector-based PDFs into 2D elements. To resolve this, you must use a vector PDF or manually trace the image content.
Verify PDF Type
- Zoom in closely on the lines within the imported PDF in Archicad.
- Observe if the edges of lines and text become pixelated or blurry.
- Identify that if pixels are visible, the file is a raster image and cannot be exploded.
Use a Vector PDF
- Request a new PDF file exported as a vector graphic from the original author.
- Import the new file using File > External Content > Place External Drawing.
-
Select the drawing and navigate to Edit > Reshape > Explode into Current View.
Note: Ensure the option Keep Original Elements After Exploding is unchecked if you wish to replace the PDF.
