Element Transfer Settings are particularly useful for enhancing efficiency and maintaining consistency across projects
What Are Element Transfer Settings?
Element Transfer Settings in ArchiCAD allow users to copy attributes and settings from one element to another, ensuring consistency and speeding up the design process. These settings include properties like materials, layer settings, pen colors, and more. By using these settings, you can maintain a uniform appearance and behavior across multiple elements, reducing the time spent manually adjusting each one.
Using Element Transfer Settings in ArchiCAD is straightforward but powerful. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to leverage this feature:
Step 1: Select the Source Element
To begin, select the element that has the attributes and settings you want to transfer. This could be any element within your project—walls, doors, windows, or even objects.
- Click on the element in the 2D or 3D view.
- Ensure it is highlighted as the active element.
Step 2: Activate the Element Transfer Settings
- Using a Keyboard Shortcut: Press Ctrl + Alt (Windows) or Cmd + Opt (Mac).
Click on your highlighted element to pick up the settings
Step 3: Transfer the settings
Select the Inject Icon or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Alt (Windows) or Cmd + Opt (Mac)
and select the element that you wish to transfer the settings too.
You can select which attributes you want to transfer in the Element Transfer Settings dialog. Archicad provides a comprehensive list of options, such as:
- Layer: Transfers the layer assignment of the element.
- Pen Set: Transfers the pen settings, including line weight and color.
- Materials: Transfers surface materials and textures.
- Properties: Transfers custom properties assigned to the element.
- Dimensions and Geometry: Transfers size, shape, and other geometric attributes.
Check the boxes next to the settings you wish to transfer. You can select multiple options or even all available attributes if needed.
Step 4: OK the settings.
Once the settings are transferred, review the target elements to ensure that the attributes have been applied correctly. Make any additional adjustments if necessary. You can repeat the process as needed to maintain consistency across your project.
