Issue Description
It is a common scenario that we want to show a slab, mesh, or object in a view other than its home story. We can edit their visibility by story in the corresponding element settings, but if we want to change the appearance of its lines in the floor plans to be dotted or solid depending on the story we are in, we have to modify some project preferences.
Solution
By default, slabs displayed above their home story are shown with a dashed line type. You can change this line type through the Legacy preferences.
- Go to Options > Project Preferences > Legacy
- In the Line Types Displayed Across Stories section, you will find:
- Above Home Story: Controls the line type for slabs displayed above their home story
-
Below Home Story: Controls the line type for slabs displayed below their home story
- Click on the dropdown next to Above Home Story to select a different line type
- Choose your preferred line type from the available options
- Click OK to apply the changes
The line type setting applies to all slabs, meshes, and certain objects that are displayed above or below their home story. This is a project-specific setting that will be saved with your project file.
For the slab to appear on the story above, you must first ensure that the slab's Show on Stories setting is configured to display on multiple stories. You can access this through the slab's settings dialog by going to Floor Plan and Section panel and setting Show on Stories to options like Home & One Story Up or Custom.
