Issue Description
You’re working in Archicad 28 with the “Archicad Library 28” folder loaded, but you’ve noticed that library parts still display a “27” suffix (e.g., Window 27, Door 27).
This is especially noticeable when migrating an active project and may raise questions about whether the correct library is being used.
Explanation
With Archicad 28, Graphisoft introduced a new library system called the Global Library, included in the “Archicad Library Packages” folder. This modular library replaces the traditional versioned library model going forward.
The Monolith Library, found in the “Archicad Library 28” folder, is a direct copy of the Archicad 27 Library. This is intentional—it ensures compatibility for projects migrating from earlier versions. Since the library parts themselves are unchanged, their “27” suffix remains visible in the element names (e.g., Door 27, Window 27).
Solution
You can continue using the Monolith Library to ensure your existing objects behave consistently.
- Expect library parts to retain the “27” suffix—this is normal, doesn’t indicate a problem, and won’t affect functionality or model performance.
- Important: It is not recommended to convert active projects to the Global Library system, as this can introduce compatibility issues.
Creating a new project or updating a template?
You can switch to the Global Library to take advantage of modular content and receive future library updates.
