Issue Description
After opening a project file on a different computer, some surfaces that previously displayed custom materials now appear as a checkered black-and-purple pattern in 3D.
Why did this happen and how can I fix it?
Solution
This issue on 3D Views occurs when Archicad cannot locate the textures associated with certain materials. It happens when:
- The project is opened on a different computer that does not have the required project libraries.
- Custom materials were linked from an external source, and the texture files were not embedded in the project.
- The library containing the textures was not loaded properly.
To restore the missing materials, follow these steps:
-
Check for Missing Libraries
-
Go to File > Libraries and Objects > Library Manager.
-
In the Library Manager, check if any libraries or attributes are listed as missing.
-
Go to File > Libraries and Objects > Library Manager.
-
Re-Add the Missing Attributes
- Select Embedded Library in the Library Manager.
- Click Add New File(s) to Selected Folder.
-
Locate and import the missing texture files.
-
Reload and Apply Changes
- After importing the missing attributes, click Reload & Apply to update the project.
TIP: If you need to migrate your project from one computer to another, make sure the libraries are located at the same destination or save your project as a .PLA (Archicad Archive project) as this file format packages the project's libraries onto the file.
