Issue Description
Our company uses Archicad 28 to model our project. However, our consultant firm works with Archicad 26. Is there a way to save the project in a lower version so that our consultant can open it?
Solution
Archicad allows projects to be back-saved, but only one version back at a time. For example, a file created in Archicad 28 can only be saved back to version 27. To save back further, to version 26, the file must first be opened in version 27 and then saved as a version 26. This process ensures compatibility with older versions but requires access to the intermediary software versions.
Steps to back save:
1: Open the file in the current version of Archicad (e.g., Version 28).
2: Navigate to File > Save As...
3: In the Save As dialog box:
- Under the Format tab, select Archicad Project (e.g., Archicad 27 Project).
4: Save the file.
5: Repeat the process in the required intermediary versions until the file reaches the desired version (e.g., open the file in Version 27 and save it as Version 26).
TIPs:
- Ensure that all intermediate Archicad versions are installed on your system to perform this step-by-step back-saving process.
- Some features or elements introduced in newer versions may not translate fully into older versions. Verify the file after each save to ensure no critical data is lost or altered.
- It is recommended to keep the project with one version and use IFC for consultant exchange or reference.
