In Archicad 29 USA, there are changes to how some regional libraries are delivered.
Some USA-specific library parts (such as NCS Drawing Titles, NCS Section Part Markers, Door Marker USA, Graphic Scale NCS, and others) are not included in the initial Archicad 29 USA installation folder.
To ensure that you can continue working without encountering missing library parts, we are providing two temporary template options until the release of Archicad 29 Library Update 1.
Why Two Templates Are Available
Archicad 29 USA Template 1 – (Standard)
- Uses only built-in global objects (for example, the “Linear Title” instead of the “NCS Drawing Title”).
- Recommended for new users or teams that do not rely on NCS standards.
Archicad 29 USA Template 2 – (Legacy - Embedded NCS Parts)
- Includes the Archicad Legacy Library (12.8 MB) embedded within the template to preserve NCS objects.
- Maintains continuity for users who are familiar with previous USA templates.
Choosing the Right Template
- New users or firms without NCS-specific requirements: Use Archicad 29 USA Template 1
- Experienced users or those needing NCS markers and titles: Use Archicad 29 USA Template 2
- Both templates are delivered through the Online Template system. For more details, see [Archicad Template Types].
What Happens Next
- The NCS library parts will be included in Archicad 29 Library Update 1 as part of a global libpack. These libraries will be renamed to ensure no duplicate library errors occur once the library update is released.
- Once that update is released, the USA Out-of-the-Box template will return to a single unified version.
-
The NCS library parts and the detailer library parts are also available in the Archicad Legacy Library (.lcf), which can be downloaded [here]. This option is useful for firms with existing or custom templates that need to link these parts directly, or for users working with Template 1 who prefer to manually link the missing NCS items instead of switching to Template 2.
Working With Your Projects
Projects already started
Projects created with Template 1 or Template 2 will remain in those templates for their entire lifecycle.
Archicad does not have a mechanism to “swap” templates in an existing project, so ongoing projects should be completed in the template they were started in.
Starting new projects after Library Update 1
Once the update is released, the updated USA template will appear in the File > New > Create from Template dialog.
Depending on timing, there may be a short gap between the release of Library Update 1 and the updated template becoming available. If so, we recommend continuing with your chosen temporary template.
-
The updated template will return to its usual name: “Archicad 29 USA Template” (without a number suffix). This will help you identify when the unified template has been released.
Note that if you previously used Template 1 or Template 2, those may remain cached in your system and still appear in the template dropdown.
