Issue description
|
When attempting to edit an element directly in a schedule, you may see a message in the “Information” tab such as:
This occurs when the element is placed on a layer that is either hidden or locked in the current layer combination. Archicad prevents editing elements in schedules if their layers are not visible and editable. |
Solution: Show and unlock all layers
- Open the Layer Settings dialog:
- Press
Ctrl + L(Windows) or⌘ + L(macOS).
- Press
- Locate the relevant layer(s):
- Ensure the eye icon is open (visible).
- Ensure the padlock icon is unlocked.
- Learn more about layer status symbols.
Tip: If you're unsure which layer the element is on:
- Select the element in the schedule and click the Select on Floor Plan/3D buttons to locate it. This will also reveal its layer in the Info Box or Settings dialog.
- Note that doors and windows will not display the layer. They use the same layer as the wall they are placed in.
Tips
- Avoid using custom layer combinations for schedules (or any drawing type). This can lead to unpredictable visibility settings.
- Create a dedicated layer combination for schedules that keeps all relevant layers visible and unlocked.
-
Open schedules from the View Map:
- Avoid accessing schedules from the Project Map as they may inherit visibility settings from a previously opened view.
- Use the View Map, or right-click a placed schedule on a layout and choose 'Open Source View' to open the schedule with the correct view settings, assuming you’ve already defined them.
