Issue Description
When you open Archicad, all your projects appear with the same icon, making it difficult to visually identify them. You want to change this default icon so that each project is represented uniquely.
Solution
To add a unique visual identifier to your projects, you can set a unique project preview in the file's metadata. This preview appears in the File > Open dialog or the Project Selector in the Archicad Home screen. Here's how to do it:
-
Open the Archicad project you want to add a preview to.
-
Go to the 3D View, Floor Plan, or any other view you want to use as the preview and adjust it to look as want it to appear in the preview (e.g., zoom level, perspective, rendering).
-
Go to File > Info > Project Preview & Architect Credits in BIMx
-
Open the Project Preview Picture tab.
- Click on the dropdown arrow on the right of the Paste from Clipboard button and select the 3D view you just set.
- Click OK to embed the new preview into the file.
- Save the changes to the file, and next time you start Archicad your updated Preview image will be visible.
TIPS:
- You can use a 3D rendering or any annotated Floor Plan to make the preview more informative.
- Ensure the captured view is clear and represents the project effectively, as this will serve as a quick identifier when opening the file.
- You can upload any other image file.
- You can copy and image and paste it as it is with the Paste from Clipboard button.
