Issue description
When trying to create a zone, you start to encounter a common error: "Creating Zone - No Closed Polygon Found".
Solution
This error typically arises when Archicad cannot detect a fully enclosed boundary for the zone. This can be due to several reasons:
- Gaps or overlaps in the boundary: There might be small gaps or overlaps between the lines or elements defining the boundary.
- Incorrect element connections: Walls, slabs, or other elements might not be properly connected, leading to an open boundary.
- Layer visibility issues: Elements required to form the boundary might be on hidden layers, turned off or of a different renovation status.
Steps to resolve the error
1. Check for gaps or overlaps
- Zoom in and inspect: Carefully zoom in on the boundary to look for small gaps or overlaps between the lines or elements. Even a tiny gap can prevent Archicad from recognizing a closed polygon.
2. Verify element connections
- Check wall connections: Ensure that walls or other boundary elements are correctly joined. Use the Trim/Extend tool to adjust and connect walls precisely.
- Review connection settings: Sometimes, settings like wall priorities or intersection overrides can affect how elements connect. Check these settings to ensure they support creating a closed boundary.
3. Adjust layer visibility
- Toggle layer visibility: Turn on all layers to ensure no boundary elements are hidden. You can use the Layer Settings dialog to quickly toggle layers on and off.
- Layer intersection group: Ensure that all elements involved in forming the boundary belong to the same layer intersection group, as this can affect how they interact and connect.
