Issue description
You have modelled a shell and need an opening but the opening tool does not work in shells.
Solution
Shells have specific commands that can be used to change their contour or create holes in them using internal trimming bodies.
- Select the shell in a floor plan, 3D or section.
- Right-click and choose Create Hole in Shell.
- If you prefer menus, use Design > Modify > Create Hole in Shell.
- If you like shortcuts, press Ctrl+Shift+O (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+O (macOS).
- Move the cursor until the preview plane highlights the needed face.
- Click to accept the plane.
- Draw the hole polygon or space-click an existing boundary to magic-wand it.
- Switch to 3D to check the opening.
Edit or remove the hole
- Click the hole edge.
- Use the pet palette:
- Edit Extrusion Length to stop the cut before the far side.
- Turn Hole Plane to rotate the opening.
- Press Delete to remove the hole if required.
