Where can I purchase it?
The floating cloud license is not a separate product, but rather a new feature for Archicad Collaborate licenses.
Does my Collaborate license have this function?
All Collaborate subscriptions purchased (with a cloud license) in September 2023 or later have the floating license feature.
How can I activate the floating license function?
A cloud license becomes floating when it is assigned to a group on the License management page.
How can I reserve a floating license?
Any of the group members can activate their floating cloud license by signing in to Archicad with their Graphisoft ID.
Can I use it offline?
The floating license requires a network connection. In case you need to use Archicad offline, the license includes 30 minutes of offline usage and will automatically be returned afterward.
Can I use a named and floating license at the same time?
No. If a Graphisoft ID account has a named cloud license and the user account is also a member of a group with accessible floating licenses, then the software will use the named cloud license, the floating license will not be reserved.
How can I change the offline usage limit of a floating license?
It is not possible to change the 30-minute limit for offline usage of a floating license. But you can change a floating license to named at any point: a named cloud license has a 7-day offline usage limit.
What happens when a group does not have enough licenses?
In case there are no more available licenses in the group, the ‘license not found’ dialog will appear.
Can I revoke a license from another group member?
A member cannot revoke the license from someone else. Only the Administrator or the Contract Manager can revoke licenses.
How many computers can use a floating license?
A floating cloud license can only be used on one computer at a time. Transfer the license to another device by simply signing in with your Graphisoft ID. Archicad users: Archicad will notify you that the license is in use. Release your license from the other device, then click the Refresh button to transfer your license. DDScad users: DDScad will release the license from the first device, so you can use it immediately on another one.
How can I transfer a floating license between computers?
Sign in to your software product with your Graphisoft ID as described in the previous point. Alternatively, you can do this virtually. In the Cloud license section of the License management page, you can see where your license is currently being used. Click on the ‘Release from device’ button to release your license from its current device.
How much time do I have to transfer a floating license?
The released floating license will remain assigned to you for 30 minutes. In this time period, you can sign in on another device and start using your product with the same account.
How long does a floating license stay reserved?
Once a floating cloud license is reserved by a group member it will be assigned to their Graphisoft ID account and reserved by the device as long as the member is using Archicad. If the member does not have any instances of the product open, then the license will automatically be returned in 30 minutes.
How can I transfer a floating license between group members?
The admin or the member can release it from the device. The admin must then wait for 30 minutes before assigning the license to someone else.
How fast can I change the licensing method from floating to named?
If the floating license is currently assigned, remove it from the group. It's available immediately for use as a named license. If the floating license is currently assigned, it must first be revoked from the user, then removed from the group. The license becomes available for use after 30 minutes.
What if I don't need this feature?
If you do not need the floating license option, you can skip creating groups and keep your current workflow.
