Resetting Archicad preferences can help resolve issues such as startup problems, crashes, performance issues, missing or misplaced palettes, unexpected interface behavior, corrupted Work Environment settings, or other unusual program behavior.
This process removes local Archicad preference, cache, and user setting files from your computer. When you restart Archicad, the program recreates these files with default settings.
Required preparation steps
Complete the preparation steps below before deleting any files. This helps prevent permanent data loss and makes it easier to restore your settings afterward.
-
Back up your Work Environment.
If you use a customized Work Environment, such as custom toolbars, palette positions, or custom shortcuts, store and export it before continuing.
See: Exporting, Storing & Restoring Your Work Environment -
Write down your BIMcloud login information.
If you use Teamwork, write down your BIMcloud address, username, and password. You may need this information to log in again after the reset.
See: Log in to BIMcloud -
IMPORTANT: Send all unsent Teamwork changes.
Before continuing, open every Teamwork project where you have unsent local changes and Send & Receive.Preferences cleaning removes local Teamwork data and cache files from your computer. Any unsent changes that have not been synchronized to BIMcloud will be permanently lost.
-
Quit Archicad.
Make sure all instances of Archicad are completely closed before deleting any preferences or cache files.
