If your architectural firm uses Graphisoft products, you might have more than one Graphisoft ID Company. Managing licenses under different accounts can be challenging, which is why merging your companies can make things much simpler. This article walks you through what you need to know about the process.
If you or your local Graphisoft Partner has requested to merge your Graphisoft ID Companies and you’ve received an email notification about it, this article can guide you through the next steps in detail.
Why merge?
As Graphisoft moves to a subscription-based model with cloud licensing, it is possible that different types of licenses (key-based and cloud) end up under separate Graphisoft ID Companies. Managing all your licenses and users across two or more administrator accounts can be complicated, so merging these Graphisoft ID Companies lets you handle everything with a single administrator account.
How does the merge work?
Only two Graphisoft ID Companies can be merged at a time. However, after merging two companies, it is possible to merge a third company with the already merged ones, if all companies meet the requirements.
During the merge, the two companies are automatically labeled as a primary and a secondary company by the system. All licenses and members from both companies are kept, but company roles (such as administrator and contract manager) are removed from the secondary company. After the merge is complete, you can reassign these roles as needed.
When is it not possible to merge companies?
In some cases, Graphisoft ID companies cannot be merged, such as:
- Two Graphisoft ID Companies that both have or previously had cloud licenses.
- Two Graphisoft ID Companies that both have active BIMCloud SaaS.
- Perpetual licences that were never linked to a Graphisoft ID Company cannot be added to an existing Graphisoft ID Company by using this merge feature. To be able to add these licenses, a Graphisoft ID Company must be created first, and then, if it's needed, this newly created Company can be merged with another one. Read this article on how to link a perpetual license to a Graphisoft ID to create a Graphisoft ID Company for the perpetual licenses.
What happens after the merge?
- All data of the Graphisoft ID companies will remain.
- Members and licenses of both companies will be merged into the primary company.
- The primary Graphisoft ID company's name will be applied to all invoices and internal systems.
- The service level (SSA/Forward/Subscription) of the primary Graphisoft ID company will be kept.
- The administrator and the contract manager of the primary company will keep their roles and will be able to manage all users, groups, and licenses.
- The administrator and contract manager of the secondary company will lose their roles, but will remain as Graphisoft ID members.
- If your BIMcloud SaaS uses cloud licenses, all members and guest members will be synced automatically to your BIMcloud SaaS.
- If the Graphisoft ID companies involved had portable cloud licenses, their portability settings would remain unchanged.
- Guest members, if there are any, will see all other members in the company member list.
- Pending Graphisoft ID member invitations will be deleted in the secondary company.
- Any pending administrator role changes in both Companies will be discarded, as the current administrators must approve the merge.
- The BIMx Model Transfer storage will be merged into a single common storage.
- Stored BIMx Hyper-models will be accessible to all company members and guest members.
The merge of the BIMx Model Transfer storage may take several minutes. All other changes will take effect immediately once both administrators accept the merge request, and the merge cannot be undone.
