Issue description
You see different surface appearances when switching between the Basic rendering engine and the Cineware rendering engine in the 3D window, or the surfaces you customized for one rendering engine do not automatically transfer to the other engine and appear with default settings instead.
Solution
Surface settings are specific to each rendering engine and do not automatically synchronize between Basic and Cineware engines. Each engine uses different parameters, with Cineware containing more sophisticated options than Basic rendering.
The Match Settings option in the Surfaces dialog provides commands to synchronize surface appearances between engines. Due to parameter differences, the result may be an approximation, with basic parameters of simple surfaces matching most accurately.
Transfer settings from Basic to Cineware
- Navigate to Options > Element Attributes > Surfaces
- Select the surface you want to modify from the surface chooser
- In Engine settings, choose Basic or Cineware depending on which you want to edit.
- Click the Match settings pop-up menu at the bottom of the dialog
- Select Update Basic settings (from Cineware) or Update Cineware settings (from Basic)
- This applies the Basic engine surface settings to the Cineware engine counterpart or vice versa.
Additional Information:
The effect of transferring from Cineware to Basic may be minimal because Basic engine uses fewer parameters. Procedural surfaces created in Cineware cannot be replicated in Basic engine.
