Issue description
You are trying to view your entire building in 3D view but face obstacles when positioning the camera. As you attempt to move the camera farther away to capture the whole building something blocks the view preventing you from achieving the desired angle.
Solution
This problem occurs because the default View Cone setting is too narrow for your viewing requirements. When the view cone angle is small it provides a focused view that may not encompass the entire building when positioned at certain distances.
- Open the 3D view of your project.
-
Navigate to View > 3D View Options > 3D Projection Settings.
OR
Right-click anywhere in the 3D view area and selecting 3D Projection Settings from the context menu.
- In the Perspective Projection Settings dialog box locate the View Cone field.
-
Increase the current angle value to a higher number (typical values range from 60° to 120°).
- Click OK to apply the changes.
The View Cone setting determines the opening angle of the camera's field of view. Wider angles (approaching 60° or more) allow you to fit more objects in the window but may introduce slight distortion to the image. The maximum recommended value is typically 120° though some users prefer settings around 105° for better visual experience.
You can also use the Navigator Preview palette to quickly adjust the view cone angle while maintaining an overview of your entire project. This palette provides a sliding switch or small icons to modify the view cone in 5-degree increments.
Note: The view cone setting is saved with your project file. If you frequently work with wide-angle views consider setting up your preferred angle in your project template to avoid repetitive adjustments.
