Issue description
You have saved a custom window as a library party, but after placing it in your model, the window appears outside or misaligned instead of being embedded within the wall. The geometry is visible, but its position does not match with the reveal distance you have defined in the window settings.
Solution
This occurs because the wallhole slab (used to define the wall opening for the custom window) is not positioned at the correct reference level in your model.
For proper window placement, the top of the wallhole slab must be at the 0.0 level in the project’s coordinate system. If the slab is not correctly positioned, the resulting window object will not be embedded inside the wall when placed.
- Select the wallhole slab in your custom window model.
- Open the Slab Settings dialog box.
- Set the Elevation (bottom) of the slab to the negative value of its thickness. For example, if the slab thickness is 50 mm, set the elevation to -50 mm.
- Confirm that the top of the slab is now at 0.0 in the project’s Z-axis.
- Save the window as a library part using File Libraries and Objects Save Selection as Window.
- Place the newly saved window into a wall. It should now be correctly embedded and cut the wall as expected.
TIP: Always double-check the reference level of the wallhole slab before saving any custom window or door library part to ensure proper placement.
