Issue Description
In the 3D View, bitmap trees display with bounding boxes, which can affect the visual quality and realism of the presentation. While these outlines do not appear in rendered images, they remain visible in the 3D workspace. How can these outlines be removed for a cleaner 3D view?
Solution
The outlines of trees can be hidden in Archicad by applying a Graphic Override. Follow these steps:
-
Group the Tree Elements:
-
Assign all tree objects to a specific Layer for easy distinction.
- Alternatively, you can also use Element ID or other classification methods if preferred.

-
Open the Graphic Override Rules dialog
- You can do so by clicking on the Graphic Overrides icon on the quick options bar.
- Or via Document > Graphic Overrides > Graphic Override Combinations....
-
Create a New Graphic Override Rule.
- Go to Manage Rules...
-
Click New and create a rule using Layer as the filtering criterion (or another chosen property).
- In the Override Style section, enable Hide Model Contours.
- Ensure that Hide Uncut Surface Contours is also turned on.
-
Click OK to save the settings.
- In the Graphic Override Combinations window create a new Graphic Override combination or select an existing combination, and add the newly created rule.
-
Apply the Graphic Override Combination to your View from the View Settings.
Once applied to your view, this Graphic Override will remove the tree bounding boxes, resulting in a cleaner and more realistic 3D presentation.
