Issue Description
When there's a need to focus on specific areas of a model, creating a partial 3D section can be an effective solution. This allows the visualization of particular elements while omitting others.

Solution
Here’s how a partial 3D view can be set up in Archicad:
1:Define the Marquee Area:
- Select the Polygonal option under Geometry Method in the Marquee Tool.
- Use the Floor Plan view to outline the desired area that should appear in the 3D view.
2: Go to 3D View and Adjust the View:
- Right click anywhere on the floor plan then press “ Show Marquee in 3D.
-
Alternatively, you can press F4 to display the defined marquee area in the 3D view.
- Use the 3D Cutaway Tool to refine the view further, such as removing the roof structure to reveal interior spaces.
- After selecting 3D Cutaway, choose Create Custom Cutting Plane and adjust its elevation as necessary. Click Finalize to apply the cut.
3: Hide Cutting Planes (Optional):
- To clean up the view, turn off Show Cutting Planes in the 3D Cutaway settings.
Setting up a partial 3D view in Archicad is a great way to focus on the areas that matter most. Whether it’s highlighting an interior space or showcasing specific details, using the Marquee Tool and 3D Cutaway Tool makes the process simple and effective. This approach allows for more precise presentations, helping to communicate the design clearly without distractions. It’s an easy yet powerful way to bring attention to key elements in a project. You can save this View in the View Map so that you can go back every now and then.
