Description
I am working on a complex multi-story model in Archicad, and I need to create a 3D view that focuses solely on the second floor. I want this view to be saved so that every time I open it, only the second floor is visible, with no interference from the other levels. How can I achieve this?
Solution
You can achieve this by using one of the following methods to display only the desired level in your 3D view:
- Using the “Filter and Cut Elements in 3D”
- Open your 3D view.
- Navigate to View > Elements in 3D View > Filter and Cut Elements in 3D
- In the Filter and Cut Elements in 3D dialog, select "Limited" under the Show on Stories section.
- Adjust the story range to include only the level you want to display.
- Optionally, check the "Trim Elements to Story Range" box to automatically cut elements that extend beyond the selected story height.
This method allows you to focus on the chosen level while trimming unnecessary elements, providing a cleaner and more precise view.
- Save the correct view on a View Map so the filters will be remembered by Archicad.
- Using the Marquee Tool + 3D Command (Cmd + F4 or Ctrl + F5)
- Activate the Marquee tool.
- Draw a marquee around the area of the floor you want to isolate.
- Use the 3D Command (Cmd + F4 on Mac or Ctrl + F5 on Win-) to generate a 3D view of the selected area.
- Save the correct view on a View Map so the filters will be remembered by Archicad.
Limitations: - This method only allows viewing either the current story (thin Marquee) or all stories (thick Marquee). The ability to focus on just one story is more limited compared to the first method.
While both methods allow you to isolate a single level in a 3D view, the Filter and Cut Elements in 3D option provides more control and flexibility. It’s the preferred method if you require precise visualization of specific stories in your model.
