Description
Sometimes (e.g. split-level projects), the Home Story of Doors and Windows are not represented as part of the desired story in the interactive Schedule. How does Archicad define the Home Story of Doors and Windows?
Solution
In Archicad, the Home Story of Doors and Windows is determined by the vertical position of the element’s center point:
- If the centerpoint is located above the Story level, for example Second Floor, then that door will belong to Second Floor.
- If the center point of the element is below Second Floor, then that door will belong to First Floor.
The critical factor for the assignment of the Home Story is the center point of the element relative to the set story heights and not the defined home story of the wall in which the Window or Door is located.

What is the best option to schedule doors/windows in projects with split levels?
A more accurate field to include in the Doors and Windows Schedule is the Related Zone Name. By this, you can show a more specific location of the door according to its Zone.
TIP: As a workaround, you can enter the Home Story as Custom Text in the schedule field.
- Select Custom text as field in the scheme settings of the schedule.
- Manually enter the correct Home Story as Custom text.
