Problem case 1
The project was created with Archicad 28 or Archicad 27, which used MEP Designer, and you are trying to delete MEP elements by opening the project with Archicad Studio 29.
Solution
When opening in Archicad Studio a project created in Archicad 27 or 28 that contains MEP elements created with MEP Designer, these elements cannot be modified or deleted directly.
Workarounds:
- You can delete the layers on which the MEP elements are placed.
- Alternatively, you can export the MEP elements to IFC format, delete the layers where they are located, and then re-import them into the project from the newly saved IFC file; in this way, they become library objects converted from the imported IFC file and can be deleted normally.
Problem case 2
The project was created with Archicad 26 or earlier, which used the MEP Modeler add-on, and you are trying to delete MEP elements by opening the project with Archicad Studio 29.
Solution
How to proceed:
Before opening the project, make sure you have already installed the migration library. If it is not available, download it from this link and proceed with the installation: Download Migration Library
Once the Migration Library is installed, start Archicad Studio and then open the project developed with the earlier Archicad versions and MEP Modeler.
Check that the layer where the MEP elements are placed is unlocked.
Also make sure that the MEP elements themselves are unlocked. You can do this by using the command
Edit > Lock > Unlock All
Or, if you have selected all the MEP elements, run the command Edit > Lock > Unlock
If the MEP objects are grouped and you want to delete only some of them, make sure you activate the command Edit > Groups > Suspend Groups
After these steps, you can select the MEP elements with the Arrow tool and proceed to delete them.
