Issue description
Imported 3D DWG/DXF files sometimes appear to load correctly into Archicad but show no 3D geometry in the 3D view. This usually happens because the source file does not actually contain 3D data, is not imported as a 3D object, or the DXF/DWG translator is not set to convert 3D content into GDL objects.
Solution
If an imported 3D DWG/DXF is not visible in Archicad’s 3D view you need to check:
-
Does the DWG and/or DXF file contain 3D data?
Ensure that the file actually includes 3D data. Use a DXF/DWG viewer to verify this (e.g., DWG TrueView by Autodesk for Windows or eDrawings by SolidWorks for Mac). -
Import 3D DWG as an object
Follow the appropriate procedure to import the file as an object: File>Library and Objects>Open Object.
- Check DXF/DWG translator settings
- Navigate to File > Interoperability > DXF-DWG > DXF-DWG Translator.
- Ensure that the translator settings are configured correctly for importing 3D data.
- Open the Options section and enable the option Convert 3D solids, regions, and bodies into GDL objects.
