From Archicad 30 onward, Project Info offers additional ways to structure and manage project information centrally and to reuse it in different workflows. You can create and organize custom groups and fields. You can then use Project Info data for AutoText, for transfer between project files, for IFC export and for BIMx.
The following four examples show typical ways to use Project Info in different workflows in Archicad 30.
1. Organize project information centrally and use it as AutoText
File > Info > Project Info...
You can structure project-related information in custom groups and fields. This includes internal project numbers, project phases, approval status or other project-specific data.
- Create new groups and fields in Project Info with the New Group and New Field buttons.
- Arrange the fields to match the project structure or move them to other groups.
- Maintain the required values centrally in Project Info.
- Use the project information as AutoText in title blocks or Layouts.
Notes:
- Custom groups and fields are available in the AutoText list. This lets you maintain project-specific information in one place and use it throughout the project. One example is recurring component names in detail drawings.
- Fixed fields cannot be deleted. Custom fields are marked with a dot icon.
2. Transfer Project Info between project files
File > Info > Project Info...
You can transfer Project Info data between Archicad project files in XML format. This is useful when several partial models of a project need the same structure and the same central project information.
- Define the required groups, fields and values in the source file.
- Select the Project Info content you need and click Export to save it as an XML file:
- Open the target file and load the XML file into Project Info with Import:
- Adjust any file-specific values in each file afterwards.
This way you can use a consistent Project Info structure across several related Archicad files.
3. Use Project Info for IFC export
From Archicad 30 onward, you can use Project Info entries as a source in the Property Mapping for IFC export. This is useful when you want to export a centrally maintained project number, site name or building information as an IFC property.
- Create the required entry or fill in its value at File > Info > Project Info...
- Open the Property Mapping of the IFC Translator you are using.
- Create a mapping rule for the IFC property you need.
- Select the matching Project Info entry as the content of the rule. One example is Project ID.
- Export the IFC file and check the transferred information.
You can map Project Info data to the Project (IfcProject), Site (IfcSite) and Building (IfcBuilding) levels among others. You can also use it for any other IFC type where Property Mapping is available.
Note: Check the exported IFC file in an IFC viewer to verify the mapping and output of the project information.
For more information see the Graphisoft Help on Property Mapping for IFC Export.
4. Filter Project Info for BIMx
When you publish a BIMx Hyper-model you can define which Project Info entries are passed on to BIMx. This lets you separate internal project information from the information intended for the client or other project participants.
The Publishing Properties of the BIMx Publisher Set offer the following options under Project Info:
- None
- Publish All
- Custom Set
If you select Custom Set use Edit Custom Set... to define the groups and fields to transfer to BIMx. Use the Search Project Info field to find individual Project Info entries faster.
Note: Up to and including Archicad 29 all Project Info data was always transferred to BIMx. From Archicad 30 onward you can limit what is transferred.
For more information see the Graphisoft Help on Project Info.
