Attribute handling improvements and origin tracking

From Archicad 30 onward, the Attributes palette can show metadata for newly created attributes. This metadata helps you see when, how, by whom and from which source attributes were added to the project.

Managing attributes can be time-consuming in larger Solo and Teamwork projects with several users or Hotlinks. Uncoordinated project workflows can lead to new attributes being created. They can also enter the project through copied and pasted elements, imported files or Hotlinks. As a result, similar or redundant attributes can appear and go unnoticed by BIM managers at first. They are also hard to track, manage and consolidate. You can use attribute metadata to trace the origin of attributes in the project and to support attribute management.

Display attribute creation metadata

To display creation metadata in the Attributes palette, follow these steps:

• Open the Attributes palette at Options > Element Attributes > Attributes.
• Click the arrow icon next to the column headers.
• Select the creation metadata you need:
  • Creation Date
  • Created By
    Solo projects show the local computer user.
    Teamwork projects show the BIMcloud user.
  • Creation Method
    For example Import, Duplicate, New, Paste or Hotlink.
  • Source File
    For example a DWG file, an Archicad project or an XML file.

• Click a column header to sort the attributes by Creation Date, Created By, Creation Method or Source File:
  
• Use the displayed metadata to check when, how, by whom and from which source attributes were added to the project.
• Note that new attribute metadata appears immediately in Solo projects:
  

Note: In Teamwork projects newly created attributes are underlined as long as a user has created them but not yet sent them to the server. After Send & Receive the attributes and their metadata become visible to everyone in the Teamwork project.
