Issue description
After installing an update for Archicad, the program no longer starts.
Solution
1. Set Relevant Exceptions in Security Software
All relevant exceptions (e.g., antivirus, firewall, etc.) must be configured in your security software.
2. Clear the Update Folder
Windows
- Open File Explorer and enable the Hidden items option.
- Navigate to C: Users <username> AppData Local Graphisoft ACUpdate and delete all files.
c:\Users\\AppData\Local\Graphisoft\ACUpdate\
macOS
- Open Finder
- From the top menu, select Go > Go to Folder...

In the window that pops up, paste the following path:
~/Library/Caches/Graphisoft/ACUpdate/
- Press Enter on your keyboard.

Delete all the files inside the ACUpdate folder.
3. Repair Installation of Archicad
Perform a repair installation of Archicad and then reinstall the update.
4. Reinstall Archicad and the Update
Windows
- Uninstall Archicad
- Download the Archicad installer and the update installer from the Graphisoft website.
- Disable any security software.
- Disconnect from the internet during installation.
- Right-click the Archicad installer and choose Run as administrator.
- Install Archicad
- Restart the computer.
- Install the update as an administrator with security software still disabled.
- After installation, re-enable security software.
Note: You can now reconnect to the internet. - Ensure that Archicad security exceptions are set.
macOS
- Uninstall Archicad
- Download the Archicad installer and the update installer from the Graphisoft website.
- Disable any security software.
- Disconnect from the internet.
- Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access.
- Double-click the Archicad installer to open it.
- Drag the Archicad icon into the Full Disk Access list.
- Grant Full Disk Access to the installer.
- Run the installer. (See Install Archicad)
- Restart the computer after installation.
- Ensure the installed Archicad has Full Disk Access.
- Repeat steps 5–9 for the update installer.
- After installation, re-enable security software.
Note: You can now reconnect to the internet. - Ensure that Archicad security exceptions are set.
5. Run Registry Cleaner or Preferences Cleaner Before Reinstalling
In some cases, after uninstalling, it is necessary to run the Registry Cleaner or Preferences Cleaner. Then reinstall the program and the update as described in step 4.
