Description
This article explains how to set up or move an Archicad NET (network) type protection key from one host server computer to another. This process involves uninstalling and reinstalling CodeMeter, configuring the new server, and ensuring proper network connections so that Archicad workstations can access licenses.
It is recommended to perform these steps outside of business hours to avoid disruptions.
Instructions
Step 1 – Remove or upload your Archicad NET key
- If using a hardware key (USB dongle): unplug it from the current host server computer.
- If using a software (digital/downloadable) key: upload it from the current host server to the Company License Pool using the GRAPHISOFT License Manager Tool.
Step 2 – Uninstall CodeMeter on the previous server (Critical)
This is a critical step to ensure proper functioning of your Archicad NET protection key.
Mac
- Download the latest CodeMeter installer from here.
- Open the package from your Downloads folder.
- Run CmUninstall from the installer package to remove all CodeMeter components.
Windows
- Open Control Panel > Programs and Features (or Add or Remove Programs).
- Uninstall all CodeMeter components.
Step 3 – Install CodeMeter on the new host server
- Download the latest CodeMeter driver from here.
- Install it on the new host server computer.
- In CodeMeter WebAdmin, enable the computer as a Network Server so it broadcasts the availability of licenses.
- Ensure the host server has a static IP address or domain name.
Step 4 – Activate the Archicad NET key on the new server
- If using a hardware key: plug the Archicad NET dongle into the new server.
- If using a software key: download it again from the Company License Pool via the GRAPHISOFT License Manager Tool.
Step 5 – Configure workstation computers
- On each Archicad workstation, open CodeMeter WebAdmin.
- Configure them to look for licenses from the new NET key server.
Step 6 – Allow network communication
- Ensure the host server and workstation firewalls allow ports 22350–22353.
- To access CodeMeter WebAdmin, use one of the following in a browser:
127.0.0.1:22350localhost:22350127.0.0.1:22352localhost:22352
- Within CodeMeter WebAdmin:
- View host server name and IP under Dashboard.
- View available licenses under License Monitoring.
Notes on cloud licensing
Graphisoft is rolling out cloud licensing, which provides more flexibility than hardware or software keys. Cloud licensing won’t be vulnerable to physical/software key failures.
