Issue description
You place an imported object and its plan view displays hundreds of edges. The dense lines slow zoom and pan actions and obscure nearby elements.
Solution
The default 2D symbol of an imported object matches the full 3D geometry, so the plan appears busy. Replace it with custom linework and fills in the GDL Object Editor to restore performance.
- Go to floor plan view.
- Place the object onto the project origin. The lower left corner must be aligned to the origin.
- Trace the object perimeter using line, arc and fill.
-
Select and copy.
- Go to File > Libraries and Objects > Open Object
- Click Open to enter the GDL Object Editor.
- In the left pane choose 2D Script, press Ctrl + A, then Delete.
- Click on the 2D Symbol tab.
- Paste the polylines and fills you copied in the plan view. It is important to align the center point to the editor's project origin. You can also directly draw in this workspace with line, arc, fill, and hotspot tools.
- Press Ctrl + S to save, then close the editor.
The plan view now shows the cleaned up symbol.
