Issue description
You see thousands separators (commas, dots, or spaces) appearing in dimension values and other numerical displays when working with large numbers in your project. The dimensions show formats like "1,000" or "1.000" instead of "1000" as desired. This formatting appears in dimensions, schedules, and other numerical elements across the application.
Solution
The thousand separator display in Archicad is controlled by your operating system’s regional settings rather than by any setting within Archicad itself. This means you must change the settings at the system level and then restart Archicad for the changes to take effect.
For Windows Users
- Press the Windows key and type Control Panel. Click Control Panel from the search results.
- Click on Clock and Region.
- Select Change date, time, or number formats.
- Click the Additional settings button in the bottom right.
- In the Numbers tab, locate the Digit grouping symbol field.
- Clear the field completely to remove the thousands separator, or replace it with a different character
- Click OK to apply the changes and click OK again to close the Regional Settings dialog.
- Close all instances of Archicad and restart the application to see the changes.
For macOS Users
Method 1: System Settings
-
Open System Settings
Click the Apple menu and select System Settings - Navigate to General > Language & Region.
- Click Number format and select the desired format
- Click OK to apply changes, then close the settings window and restart Archicad
