Issue description
When creating fills using the Fill tool, the area text automatically appears and requires positioning with a hammer cursor. This automatically prompts you to place area text even when it is not needed in your drawing.
Solution
The automatic area text display is triggered because the Show Area Text option is enabled in the Fill settings.
- Select the Fill tool from the Design toolbar.
- Open the Fill settings by either:
- Double-clicking the Fill tool icon, or
- Pressing Ctrl + T (Windows) / Cmd + T (Mac) while the Fill tool is active.
- Expand the General Settings panel.
-
Uncheck the Show Area Text checkbox.
- Click OK to apply the changes.
Saving the setting as a Favorite for future use:
- Confirm that Show Area Text is unchecked in the Fill settings.
- Click the Favorites (star) button at the top of the dialog.
- Select New Favorite.
- Enter a name such as Fill – w/o Area.
- Click OK to save the Favorite.
Once saved as a favorite, you can apply it as the default for the Fill tool, ensuring that all new fills you create will have the area text feature disabled. With this setting off, the hammer cursor no longer appears for area text placement.
Note: the format and appearance of area text, when enabled, can be controlled by the Dimension Text Settings dialog. Fill favorites also store the style of Fill text whenever Show Area Text is enabled.
