Issue description
When viewing your model in the 3D window, the lighting appears too dark or unevenly distributed. The sun’s directional lighting creates bright and dark areas that make it difficult to see all parts of the model clearly.
Solution
The lighting in the 3D window is controlled by the physical engine, which creates realistic lighting effects. While you cannot completely turn off the sun due to this realistic rendering approach, you can influence lighting through several methods to brighten and balance the 3D view.
Method 1: adjust sun settings
- Right-click in the 3D window and select 3D Projection Settings.
- In the dialog box, click the Sunlight button to open Sunlight Settings.
- Adjust the Sunlight intensity between 0 – 100 %
- Click OK to apply the changes.
Method 2: modify surface materials
- Go to Options > Element Attributes > Surfaces.
- Select the surface materials that appear too dark.
- In the Exposure to Light panel, adjust these settings:
- Increase Ambient Reflection to 75 – 100 % to make surfaces reflect more light.
- Modify Diffuse Reflection for better light distribution.
- Add slight Emission color (change from pure black to dark grey) to give surfaces a subtle glow.
- Click OK to save the surface changes.
