Issue Description
You observe that the railing balusters are appearing in the same location as the inner posts and overlapping them.
Solution
This overlapping occurs because the Baluster Pattern Distribution is set to Fixed Pattern Length. When this setting is used balusters are positioned at their defined distance intervals regardless of inner post locations which can result in balusters being placed directly over inner posts.
There are three methods to resolve this issue:
Method 1: Change Baluster Pattern Distribution to Divide Segment Into Divisions
- Select the railing and open Railing Settings
- Navigate to Balusters in the pattern hierarchy
- In the Pattern Distribution and Position section locate Baluster Pattern Distribution
- Change from Fixed Pattern Length to Divide Segment Into Divisions
- Enter the desired number of balusters in the field
- Click OK to apply the changes
This method will divide the segment length equally and distribute balusters evenly preventing overlap with inner posts.
Method 2: Adjust the Pattern Length to Be Divisible by Rail Lengths
- Select the railing and open Railing Settings.
- Go to Inner Posts settings.
- Note the Distance from Previous value which defines the pattern length.
- Calculate a distance that divides evenly into your rail segment lengths.
- Modify the Distance from Previous value to this calculated distance.
- Navigate to Balusters settings.
- Verify the Baluster Position distances work with the new pattern length.
- Set to Start from Center so it will offset from the center of the pattern.
- Click OK to apply the changes
This ensures the fixed pattern repeats without cutting off balusters at inner post locations.
Method 3: Use Equally Distribute Pattern Distribution
- Select the railing and open Railing Settings.
- Navigate to Balusters in the pattern hierarchy.
- In the Pattern Distribution and Position section change Baluster Pattern Distribution to Equally Distribute Pattern.
- Enter a Maximum Length for the baluster pattern.
- The pattern will be stretched as needed to fit the segment without cutting off at inner posts
- Click OK to apply the changes.
This method automatically adjusts the pattern length to ensure balusters are distributed evenly across the full segment length without overlapping inner posts.
