Issue description
After placing a beam in Archicad, you are unable to use the stretch command from the pet palette, instead the beam reverts to its original fixed length and cannot be adjusted to a new length.
Solution
The beam segments are set to fixed length rather than flexible length. When a beam segment is set to fixed length, it will maintain that exact length even when you try to stretch the beam.
- Select the beam that cannot be stretched.
- Right-click and choose Beam Selection Settings from the context menu.
- In the Beam Settings dialog box, locate the Segment list at the top of the dialog.
- Select the segment you want to modify from the list.
- In the Structure panel below, click on the flexible icon instead of the fixed icon that is currently selected.
- For each flexible segment, you can define the percentage of how much it will contribute to the overall stretching:
- If you have multiple flexible segments, you can set different percentages for each segment
- The total percentage of all flexible segments must equal 100%
- Click OK to apply the changes.
- Now select the beam again and use the Stretch command from the pet palette to adjust its length.
- Click on the beam endpoint and drag to the desired new length.
