Issue Description
You want to create a window with a masonry arch, but the default windows in the library do not display the arch ornament, and you would rather not create a custom window.
Solution
The Windows from the Archicad library can have a Masonry Arch, the element is disabled by default but can be activated in the Window Settings. Follow the steps below to add and customize a masonry arch for your window:
- Select a Window from the Archicad Library in your project and place it in your model.
- Open the Window Settings.
- Right-click on the placed window and choose Window Selection Settings.
- Or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd + T.
- Expand the Basic/Special Window Settings Tab and go to Wall Opening > Masonry Arch
- Check the box Masonry Arch to add the the element to your window.
- Choose an arch style from the drop-down menu. Options include straight, curved, jack arch, etc.
- Adjust the following settings based on your design requirements:
- Rise: Set the height of the arch.
- Skewback Angle: Define angles for jack-style arches.
- Type: Select either Stucco or Brick. For brick arches, specify brick and mortar thicknesses.
- Keystone: Configure keystone dimensions such as width, oversize (vertical extension), and projection (horizontal protrusion).
- Use additional options for further customization:
- Arch on Header: Check this box if you want the arch directly atop the header. Otherwise, set a distance between them.
- Niche Below Arch: Enable this option to create an inset beneath the arch.
- Horizontal Overhang: Define overhang values for both sides of the opening.
- Click OK to apply your changes.
TIPS:
- Using brick arches for multiple windows may increase your model size significantly.
- For precise visual adjustments, refer to 3D views or elevation drawings after configuring settings.
