Issue description
You attempt to create an elevation or section from your model using the corresponding tool in Archicad, but the viewpoint is not created after placing the marker.
Solution
The problem arises because the elevation/section tool settings are set to Place Unlinked Marker or Place Linked Marker instead of Create New Viewpoint. By default, the software allows you to create elevations by linking them to existing viewpoints or creating new ones. If the setting is not correctly configured, the viewpoint will not be generated when you place a marker.
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
- Activate the Elevation/Section tool from the toolbox and open its Settings dialogue:
- You can open the settings dialogue by double clicking on Elevation/Section tool in the Toolbox
- Or by clicking on its icon on the Infobox.
- Or by using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd + T.
- Change the elevation/section marker:
- In the Elevation Settings dialog box, ensure that the Create new elevation/section viewpoint option is selected instead of Place unlinked marker or Place unlinked marker.
- Click OK to save the changes.
- Create elevation:
-
- Use the Elevation tool to place a marker in your project.
- This should now create a new viewpoint associated with the elevation.
If you have already placed elevation/section markers that were set as unlinked:
- Delete the existing unlinked markers.
- Change the Elevation/Section Viewpoint tool settings as described above.
- Place new markers to create the viewpoints with the correct settings.
Note that you cannot convert an unlinked marker to a source marker. You must create a new one with the proper settings.
