Issue Description
When attempting to add a Skylight to a roof modeled using the Slab Tool, the operation doesn’t work. Why can’t I add skylight on Roof Slab?
Solution
The Skylight Tool in Archicad is specifically designed to integrate with the Roof element, not the Slab element.
When you use a Slab to create a flat roof, the element does not have the necessary functionality or parameters to accommodate Skylights. This limitation is by design, as the tool behaves based on its association with Roofs, allowing dynamic adjustments like slope alignment and depth settings.
To add a skylight to your design:
- Use the Roof Tool instead of the Slab Tool for your roofing element.
- For flat roof designs, set the slope of the Roof to 0.00°.
- Apply the Skylight Tool to the roof element.
Understanding the distinction between Roofs and Slabs in Archicad is essential when designing complex structures. While a Slab might seem like a straightforward option for flat roofs, its limitations in handling Skylights make the Roof Tool the preferred choice.
