Issue description
In many architectural designs, profile walls require individual skins to be adjusted for aesthetic, functional, or technical reasons. While Archicad allows the creation of Complex Profiles, how can I move specific skins independently once a profile is applied.
Solution
Yes, you can use Profile Modifiers in Archicad to move individual skins in a profile wall. This is particularly useful when you want to create offset layers (e.g., for cladding, insulation, or finishes) or adjust the position of specific skins dynamically without modifying the entire profile. Here’s how you can set it up:
Step 1: Create a Custom Profile
1. Open the Profile Manager:
- Go to Design > Complex Profiles > Profile Manager.
- Click New or select an existing profile to edit.
2. Draw the Wall Skins:
- Use the Fill Tool to draw the layers of your wall (e.g., structure, insulation, cladding).
- Assign appropriate Building Materials to each fill for correct priority-based intersections.
3: Save the Profile
Step 2: Add Profile Modifiers
1. In the Modifiers panel, click and name a New Modifier.
The newly created modifier appears in the Modifiers list. The initial warning triangle indicates that this modifier has no definition yet.
click the Add Offset Dimension button in the Modifier panel
During input, available edges that can be offset are shown in black; when hovering, they will be shown with blue highlight.
2. Click the edge to be offset.
- Now drag the cursor: the modifier’s parameter name appears, and you are dragging its dimension line.
- Click a Fill node (this is the anchor), then drag the resulting dimension line and click again to place it.
3: Repeat for Other Skins:
- Add separate modifiers for other skins you want to move independently.
4: Save the Profile:
- Click Save in the Profile Manager.
Step 3: Apply the Profile to a Wall
1. Select the Wall:
- In your project, select the wall you want to modify.
2. Assign the Custom Profile:
- Open the wall’s settings
- Under the Structure tab, set the wall type to Complex Profile.
- Choose your custom profile from the dropdown menu.
Step 4: Modify Skins in the Model
1. Select the Wall:
- Select the wall in 3D .
2. Use the Pet Palette: select the option to Offset Edges
3: Move the induvial skin into the correct position.
