Issue Description
BIMx Hyper-model Only Viewable in BIMx Viewer
The BIMx Hyper-model can no longer be imported into Archicad or other programs.
Solution
BIMx Hyper-models cannot be imported into Archicad because they are specifically designed for viewing and sharing, not for further editing. BIMx files are intended for project documentation, presentation, and collaboration, but they do not contain editable BIM data like Archicad project files.
1. Purpose of BIMx Files
- BIMx files are optimized for interactive viewing in the BIMx Viewer. They serve as a final output for sharing and presenting the project, not as files to be edited.
- They encapsulate the 3D model and relevant documentation, but do not allow further modification or integration into a working Archicad project.
2. Non-editable Format
- BIMx files are not stored in a format that Archicad can interpret as project data (such as
.pla
,.ifc
, or.dwg
files). They are designed solely for visualization, which means they lack the underlying structure needed for editing.
3. Intended for Output, Not Editing
- BIMx Hyper-models are meant to be the final representation of a project, so they can be used for presentations, walkthroughs, or collaborating with others who don't have Archicad.
For data exchange and collaboration within Archicad, formats like .pla
, .dwg
, or .ifc
should be used. If you need to work with the data in Archicad, you will need to use an appropriate file format for importing, such as .pla
for project files or .ifc
for BIM data exchange.
TIP: From the BIMx Viewer, you can export as PDF, print, or create issues.
PDFs exported from BIMx are raster-based and do not contain vector data.
